The Two Fatalities Identified in Brown University Shooting as Police Persist in Search for Perpetrator.

Both young individuals who died in Saturday’s tragic incident in Providence had tributes paid to them on Monday – amid a widespread hunt for their shooter continued following the freeing by Rhode Island officials of the single suspect detained in connection in the case.

Tributes for Ella Cook

The young woman Ella Cook, a sophomore from Alabama, was called “an incredible, grounded, faithful, bright light”, per the Cathedral Church of the Advent, Birmingham, which paid tribute to her at a ceremony on Sunday.

Cook was the vice-presidency of Brown’s branch of the College Republicans organization, as the club stated. Karoline Leavitt also shared words of sorrow online, remarking: “Words cannot express. Thinking of her loved ones and companions, above all her mom and dad.”

MukhammadAziz Umurzokov

The other person killed was MukhammadAziz Umurzokov from Uzbekistan, an Uzbek national in his freshman year at the prestigious university, his family confirmed.

His name was confirmed by the foreign office of Uzbekistan.

“He possessed remarkable kindness, humor, and intelligence. His ambitions were lofty of entering the field of neurosurgery and helping people,” his sister, Samira Umurzokova said in a online post.

The Shooting Incident

An additional nine individuals were wounded in Saturday’s attack in the school of engineering of Brown’s grounds in Providence, during the university's examination week.

Officials stated by the end of Sunday that a 24-year-old male arrested in a police operation at a lodging about 17 miles from the university earlier in the day was set to be freed.

“There is a killer at large,” stated the state's top prosecutor, Peter Neronha.

He continued, “Investigations can lead one way, and then you must reassess and head another way, and this is precisely what occurred over the last approximately one day.”
