Edwards as well as O'Neil Included in Wolverhampton Wanderers Managerial Contenders

Rob Edwards and Gary O'Neil represent the initial names under consideration to succeed Vitor Pereira as manager of Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Pereira was dismissed on the weekend after the team's 10-match winless beginning to the Premier League campaign.

Furthermore Edwards and O'Neil - both of who have previous links to the team - are among the names to be evaluated by the Wolves ownership.

Edwards is currently at Middlesbrough, which would create a possible obstacle to his hiring at Molineux.

Nevertheless the ex- Luton Town manager - who played over a century of games for Wolves during his time as a player - is said to be a leading candidate for the position.

The mid-career manager is said to have backing from the club board as they start the search of appointing a fresh manager.

O'Neil is also appearing as a unexpected candidate, although he would be a shock choice given he was sacked by the club in the previous winter.

The ex- West Ham midfielder is out of work meaning the club would not need to provide any buyout fee.
